With a deep love for raw, organic sound, Shane has crafted a solo performance style that’s as full-bodied as it is intricate. Blending peaceful rhythms, jazzy finger-picking, roots, blues, and delicate slide guitar, his music breathes with space and soul. Using a live looper and harmonizer, he builds rich, layered soundscapes that elevate his solo performances. His lyrics—drawn from life’s highs and lows—offer thoughtful reflections wrapped in warm, evocative melodies.
For over 20 years, Shane has been performing, recording, and creating music. His independent debut EP Faces (2006) led to two self-booked North American tours—long before the rise of social media—where he connected with fellow musicians through MySpace. Armed with just an acoustic guitar, a lap slide, and a backpack, he played shows across Canada and the U.S., from British Columbia to New York City.
Back in Australia, Shane formed a band in 2010, leading to the recording of his full-length independent album Box of Birds. Tracked mostly in his Melbourne home studio and finalized in Northern California, the album was nearly completed in 2014 before life took him in a new direction. After relocating to Northern NSW and focusing on other ventures, Box of Birds finally saw its quiet release in 2018—a collection of 12 songs, written and recorded for the pure love of music and artistic expression.
Now re-emerging into live performance, Shane is reconnecting with audiences and the energy of the stage, bringing his signature sound to new and familiar listeners. Woodford Folk Festival presents an incredible opportunity to share his music in a space that celebrates independent artistry, storytelling, and creative expression.
Shane continues to evolve, staying true to his passion and deep connection to the music that moves him.
